Stop the Violence

This LaxTribe design was inspired by the Stop the Violence against Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement.  100% of all profits from the sale of any of LaxTribe's "Stop the Violence" designed apparel will go to support the "Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women" organization.  More information on this organization can be found at www.CSVANW.org

The MMIW movement uses a red hand over the mouth as a symbol to stand for:
  • The missing sisters whose voices are not heard
  • The silence of the media and law enforcement
  • The oppression and subjugation of Native women

A national response is needed that includes:

  • A comprehensive action plan: That addresses the root causes of violence and identifies culturally-appropriate ways to prevent it.
  • A public inquiry: That exposes the nature of the violence and ensures government and police accountability
  • Regular data collection: On violence against Indigenous women in official crime statistics
  • Legal reform: To remove barriers to safety for Indigenous women
  • Cultural reeducation: To help mainstream America understand the past and present truths of American Indian Nations
  • Holding industries accountable: For the violence that results from their use of military and itinerant workforces within Indigenous communities
